Publications Ethics
At the Journal of Global Economic Growth & Development (JGED), we are committed to the highest standards of honesty in everything we publish. We strictly follow clear rules and ethical guidelines to prevent and address any kind of research misconduct. JGED promises to fully investigate all claims of wrongdoing to make sure the economic research we publish is reliable and trustworthy.
What We Expect from Everyone Good ethical standards are the foundation of academic publishing. They are key to keeping the trust and belief in the worldwide research community. Authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers each play an important part in sticking to these rules. This ensures that what we publish is of good quality, new, and real.
What Editors Must Do
Our editing process follows the rules set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which guides journal editors and publishers. The Editor-in-Chief, with help from the editorial board, makes sure the editing process is fair and honest.
Editors are responsible for:
• Having the final say on accepting or rejecting papers, based on whether they fit the journal's goals.
• Judging papers fairly, focusing on their academic value, originality, and relevance.
• Sending papers for review and making decisions based on what reviewers suggest.
• Keeping all information private during the review process. Editors must ensure authors and reviewers stay anonymous to avoid bias.
• Using known tools to check for originality, like plagiarism detectors.
• Sharing any personal, institutional, or financial conflicts of interest. Editors must step aside in such cases to remain neutral. Editors should never use unpublished information from submitted papers for their own benefit.
• Making sure papers are proofread and formatted correctly, working with authors to ensure accuracy.
• Ensuring all published content follows copyright rules, ethical research practices (for studies involving people, animals, and the environment), and editorial guidelines.
Reviewer Ethics and Responsibilities
Reviewers are very important in the peer review process. They help improve the quality of papers by giving expert opinions and helpful feedback.
Reviewers are responsible for:
• Being experts in the topic and promising to give fair, unbiased feedback.
• Sending in reviews on time to avoid slowing down publication.
• Keeping all reviews private. Reviewers should not share any part of the review or paper with others.
• Spotting any form of plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical behavior.
• Offering helpful feedback to improve the paper's academic value, including checking references, citations, and methods.
• Sharing any conflicts of interest financial, institutional, or personal and declining to review such papers.
• Not reviewing papers where they have close personal or work connections with any of the authors.
Authors Ethics and Responsibilities
Authors are key to the publishing process. They are responsible for submitting original, ethical, and academically sound research.
Authors are responsible for:
• Making sure their papers are original and not being considered by other publications. Any overlap with work published before must be shared.
• Strictly avoiding plagiarism (using others' work without credit), making up data, and changing data.
• Properly crediting and citing all sources. Using images, figures, or materials from others only with proper permission.
• Not trying to manipulate citations (e.g., adding citations just to boost their own papers).
• Ensuring all listed authors truly contributed to the research and agree with the paper's content.
• Sharing any funding, institutional support, or possible conflicts of interest.
• Making sure research involving people or animals follows ethical guidelines. Getting informed consent and clearly stating ethical approvals is a must.
• Responding positively to comments after publication and correcting any errors found in their published work.
Publisher Ethics and Responsibilities
The publisher is ultimately responsible for the honesty of all published material and must follow international ethical publishing standards.
The publisher is responsible for:
• Ensuring all published content follows legal and ethical rules, including copyright laws and privacy rules.
• Working with editors to address misconduct, including plagiarism and breaking copyright or ethical rules.
• Publishing corrections or retractions quickly when needed.
• Providing fair and equal access to published content, without judging based on gender, background, nationality, religion, or any other personal trait.
• Supporting long-term digital storage and availability of published work with relevant online archives and indexing services.
• Clearly telling everyone involved about the journal’s editorial and publishing rules.
Following these ethical standards helps create a publishing environment that is open, trustworthy, and believable. We encourage everyone involved to be watchful, responsible, and committed to upholding the highest standards of honesty in academic communication.
